Welcome, DC!

MN Select has hired DC Brown to serve as the Operations Manager.

DC was introduced to volleyball while playing "picnic volleyball" at a graduation party Senior year of high school, and he instantly fell in love. He spent the majority of his 20s playing beach volleyball in Arizona, and dabbled indoor occasionally. For DC, coaching was always a passion, and his original intent was to coach football. After moving to the Twin Cities with his Minnesotan wife in 2011, he stumbled upon an opportunity to coach club volleyball.

Over the past 9 years of coaching he has coached at clubs in the metro with multiple levels of teams before he found a home at MN Select. He is now in his 6th season coaching at MN Select.. His experience includes coaching JV teams at Minneapolis Washburn, St. Paul Academy, and Totino-Grace. Following his time as the JV Coach at Totino-Grace, he transitioned into the Head Coach role there in 2018. In both of DC’s seasons as the Head Coach at Totino-Grace, he has reached the Section 5AA Final.  In 2018 he was voted the 5AA Section Coach of the Year.

DC brings a passion and energy for the game of volleyball that aligns with the rest of our MN Select Administration. At his core he cares deeply for each of his players and families.

“I am thrilled to add DC to our Admin team,” said Club Director Scott Jackson. “DC is organized, thoughtful and kind in his interactions with others, and passionate about helping MN Select be the very best it can be. In DC’s six years at MN Select as a coach, I have received a myriad of positive comments from his players and their parents for his caring approach to helping his players’ improvements on the court and helping them be better teammates, daughters, students, and friends. MN Select is well-positioned to continue to grow and help all our families more than ever before.”

"I'm very excited to be at Select full-time. MN Select is an organization that has provided me so much opportunity to grow and develop as a coach and person,” said DC. “I love what we stand for and the work we do shaping young lives. "

DC started his role at MN Select on Monday, February 25.
